Slowly getting somewhere

A lot has happened in the top-floor flat in the meantime. The plumbers, the drywall builder, the electrician and the window fitter have all been hard at work. The dormer opening onto the XXL roof terrace has been built and the rather splendid lift-and-slide door was craned onto the roof and installed. That was quite a spectacle – and a crane is great fun for big boys 🙂 The whole street was closed off, and almost nobody paid attention to it. Fortunately the crane company was very accommodating and did not charge us for the time spent waiting for the tow truck. The service lines (gas, water, electricity, waste water, network) were routed through the old, disused chimney from the cellar all the way up to the top floor. The chimney had to be opened up in several flats to do so – quite a job. Now all that is left is a little drywall work, the tiling and painting, and the final installation of the plumbing and electrics. With a bit of imagination it already looks really good 🙂

Oh, and the building itself was refurbished in the meantime… new roof, new windows, a repainted façade and new balconies. Rather smart, don't you think?
